About
The Statewide Regional Behavioral Health Collaborative’s aim is “to increase the confidence, knowledge and skill sets of pediatric primary care providers, to improve identification and treat children with behavioral health care needs by offering skill building training, technical assistance and resources”. USF is one of several hubs throughout the state to participate in a telepsychiatry project to achieve the aim of the Statewide Regional Behavioral Health Collaborative funded by the Office of Children’s Medical Services Managed Care Plan & Specialty Program under the Florida Department of Health. The overreaching goal of the collaborative is using telehealth to increase the timely access, identification, assessment, treatment and referral of children with behavioral health conditions treated in pediatric primary care practices. Since starting in July 2018, the USF hub has facilitated over 400 child/youth telepsychiatry consults treated in primary care pediatric practices. For information about the telepsychiatry project please contact Sabrina Singh at sabrinasingh@usf.edu.
Florida Behavioral Health Collaborative Pediatric Hotline: 1-866-487-9507
The Florida Behavioral Health Collaborative Pediatric Hotline provides a wide range of services, coordinated by a care coordinator/resource navigator, to support peer-to peer consultation between pediatric care providers caring for children with behavioral health needs and child psychiatrists. Patient-focused telepsychiatry consultation is available to all providers regardless of insurance carrier caring for children/youth up to 21 years old.
“The psychiatrist always calls me back within 24 hours, and I have always found them to be very helpful in giving me the advice I need to take the next step in managing my patient. They are willing to advise me regardless of the payer mix, and, if a patient has significant issues, it can be worked out for them to see the patient by telemedicine to help you with the care.” – D. Paul Robinson, M.D., F.A.A.P. (Past President – Florida Chapter of the AAP)
Our Psychiatrists:
Meet the Psychiatrists: Getting to Know You
Pediatric primary care providers are increasingly providing behavioral health care to children. To help with this reality, the Florida Behavioral Health Collaborative Pediatric Hotline (1-866-487-9507) aims to connect providers with board-certified child and adolescent psychiatrists and care coordinators to discuss the presentation of symptoms and choose a treatment option that best suits the needs of the child. The USF-Health child and adolescent psychiatrists, who answer the Hotline, discuss the benefits of the Hotline and answer questions from pediatric primary care providers.
