Telepsychiatry

As part of the Florida Pediatric Mental Health Collaborative, The Florida Program for Behavioral Health Improvements and Solutions at USF (USF BHH) is one of several hubs throughout Florida to offer telepsychiatry to increase access to behavioral health services for youth 0-21 years old regardless of insurance carrier. The USF BHH offers services to fourteen counties in southwest Florida.

Telepsychiatry services are provided by board-certified child and adolescent psychiatrists at USF-Health. The pediatric primary care provider maintains management of the patient and bills insurance for telepsychiatry and subsequent visits.

Each telepsychiatry visit includes:

  • Review of symptoms and behaviors with parent/guardian, then youth alone
  • Discussion with pediatric primary care provider to review diagnoses and treatment plans
  • Social determinants screening
  • Referrals to community resources
